The Roots
About the Program
TThe Roots is the heart of community engagement within the SelfLed PAK, designed for boys ages 8–14 to learn the importance of giving back while developing leadership and responsibility. This program emphasizes hands-on service, where participants take part in projects like neighborhood cleanups, lawn care, and other community improvement initiatives.
Through these experiences, boys develop a deeper understanding of their role in the world around them. Mentors guide them to see the value of helping others, taking pride in their contributions, and working collaboratively. The Roots teaches that community impact isn’t just about action—it’s about character, empathy, and leaving a positive mark wherever you go.
What Our Mentees Gain
Participants in The Roots gain practical experience in leadership, teamwork, and service. Boys learn how to identify needs in their community, plan and execute projects, and take pride in tangible results. They also build empathy, problem-solving skills, and a sense of accountability, all while strengthening connections with peers and mentors.
This program reinforces that giving back is a powerful way to grow personally while positively impacting others. Participants leave with a stronger sense of purpose, awareness of their surroundings, and pride in making a difference.
